How to upload document to iCloud mac os x

Well, it’s finally happened. Apple has released the free iOS 5 and iCloud products. Overall, I am quite impressed. The seamlessness with which iCloud syncs music, contacts, calendars between my MacBook and my iPad is unbelievable. It is far beyond what anything – even DropBox and Google – have been able to do in terms of easy, invisible synchronization.

The one area in which iCloud is lacking is that of iWork documents on the desktop. It works beautifully on the iOS, where you create a document, and it instantly appears on your iCloud account. However, it doesn’t work so well on the Mac side of things. You have to manually upload the documents from the Mac; there isn’t an option to sync them. This is understandable, since it would be a major pain to make the system search the filesystem for all supported files.

Fortunately, there is a really easy way to upload documents from a Mac or PC with Safari, Chrome, or any other HTML5-supporting browser. All you have to do is drag and drop the file into the iWork screen on the iCloud site. That’s it. No clicking the “Upload” button, no searching through a tiny dialog box for a file. Just drag it from Finder or Explorer. It is a beautiful, elegant solution that Apple has done an excellent job on.

How did you get past the Intro iWork page on iCloud? Having the same issue.

    • You have to have iWork installed on an iOS device registered under your Apple account in order to use iWork on iCloud.

If you don’t have an iOS device but want to be able to store iWork documents on the cloud, then iWork.com is still available. The iWork applications all have a “Share via iWork.com” option on the “Share” menu. You can access them at http://www.iwork.com after you upload them.
