I gave the whole unit a good spraying with the compressed air, and inside the DVD/CD drive. I want to see a clean bill of health in the Permissions repair summary. This will provide the necessary information on how to proceed. Show this post ^ you have the same spec as mine?
I'm sure I was testing the drive with a DVD, which works fine now. I'd bet if you take a look around, replacing the optical drive in a Dell or HP laptop isn't all that much different in cost from Apple. Thank you!
