It may or may not require running a new wire for the outdoor air temperature sensor and the wire should be separate from the regular thermostat wire. two of them work flip between normal and abnormal. does the a/c work? Thanks in advance. have a peek here

My thermostats do not have battery back-ups. I am hoping you already figured out the problem or a contractor already figured out the problem. I'm starting to suspect that something is freezing up and, after awhile, thaws out and starts working again.
